Freddie Mercury is a worldwide sensation. But, how did it all start though,for the boy from Zanzibar and how did he achieve such phenomenal fame.
Freddie Mercury was born in 1946. His real name is Farrokh Bulsara. He spent most of his childhood in Tanzania where he began taking piano lessons at the age of seven. When he was 12, he formed a school music band «The Hectics» and covered rock-and-roll artists.
The Bulsara family moved to England and in 1964 Freddie joined up to music band «Smile». Mercury also made friendship with Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon. Soon «Smile» metamorphosed into «Queen».
Freddie Mercury wrote 10 of the 17 songs on Queen’s Greatest Hits album. For example: «Bohemian Rhapsody», «Killer Queen», «Somebody to love» and «We are the champions».
In addition to his work with Queen, Mercury put out two solo albums, but they weren’t successful. He also performed with Montserrat Caballe.
In 1985 Queen was performing at Wembley Stadium at «Live Aid» to help child from Africa.
Freddie Mercury died in 1991 at the age of 45, at his home in Kensington.
He was the showman and phenomenal person. He was the best singer I’ve ever heard.
