RODE launches PodMic USB - a 24-bit/48 kHz A/D cardioid microphone suitable for podcasters, streamers, gamers and other content creators.
Claimed to be an improved version of the original PodMic , it offers, in addition to the analog XLR output, a USB-C port, allowing connection to many devices, including a mixer, audio interface, computer (Windows/Mac), and mobile devices based on iOS and Android . The microphone reportedly comes in an all-metal stainless steel construction, has a built-in swivel mount, as well as an integrated studio-grade pop filter to minimize plosive sounds, and has an internal shock absorber to protect against vibrations.
It is noted that the digital USB output is equipped with an ultra-low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamp and a built-in DSP with APHEX digital processing for studio-quality sound. DSP effects include compressor, noise gate, high pass filter, as well as Aural Exciter and Big Bottom effects. In addition, a 3.5mm headphone output is provided in combination with volume control and zero-latency monitoring.
