Survey results

Hello!

As it was planned, we conducted the survey, which you might have seen in one of our previous posts.

In total, we got 80 responses and we thank all who took part in the it!

Firstly, let's see the descriptive statistics for demographics: the average age of respondent is 23, 75% of all people who participated are Masters and 25% are Bachelors. For some reason, we got 72% of women and only 28% of men. I guess women are more responsive :)

Most people took up 1-5 coursers in their, but there are many of those who had 6-8. No one among respondents had more.

What is more interesting, we can clearly see that many people who took many courses did not finish them. That raises obvious question: why? Is it because they did not like it? Did not have time? Something else? Interesting topic for future research!

The most popular platforms are Coursera and Udemy. Approximately the same number of votes got Khan, Udacity and Universarium.

Considering choice between two similar courses (I remind you, they were on Python programming), most people gave their preference to the course from edX. They mentioned three main reasons for that:

1. They know and trust edX platform;

2. The course is from Microsoft;

3. The description is more detailed.

So, it can be concluded that two brands simultaneously affect consumer choice: platform and institution.

The statements that we provided in the questionnaire supported our netnography study and gave us additional insights.

In short, the main conclusions of this stage are:

1. Instructor performance is an important factor in course choice;

2. Platform and institution play significant role in consumer choice;

3. People are using reviews as a reference when making choice;

4. Clear structure and information delivery matter.

More on the results, recommendations and future research in our final presentation!

See you soon!
