Saint Petersburg, Russia – The Association of Blockchain Developers of Saint Petersburg announced today that it has joined The Linux Foundation and Hyperledger as an Associate Member. The Linux Foundation hosts Hyperledger, an umbrella project of open source blockchains and related tools that serves as an ecosystem for advancing business blockchain technology. As a member of the Hyperledger community, the Association of Blockchain Developers of Saint Petersburg will contribute to expanding adoption of Hyperledger in St. Petersburg.
Hyperledger, an open source collaborative effort to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies, was started in December 2015 by The Linux Foundation, and the initiative has been supported by big industry players such as IBM, Intel and SAP to support the collaborative development of blockchain-based distributed ledgers. Hyperledger is a multi-project, multi-stakeholder effort that includes 11 business blockchains and distributed ledger technologies. New code contributions and community development continue to advance all of these frameworks and tools. Today, more than 260 organizations support the Hyperledger project.
Launched in July 2017, Association of Blockchain Developers of Saint Petersburg provides a platform for the exchange of experiences, collaboration on technologies and best practices for blockchain software developers. The Association organizes conferences, meetups and hackathons as well as cooperates with leading technology companies, universities and startup hubs.
"We are excited to be part of The Linux Foundation and contribute to the Hyperledger project. At Association of Blockchain Developers of Saint Petersburg, we hope to bring new technologies, businesses and universities together by building a community. We hope to accelerate the adoption of Hyperledger and blockchain technology by our community members," said Dmitri Plakhov, Founder, Saint Petersburg Blockchain Developers Community.
