Fun with languages

As a part of one of my courses I was meant to attend some workshops, and "Fun with languages" was one of them. Actually, I attended it twice :)

As it states in the name of workshop - it was real fun. I've been interested in learning Spanish a long time ago, but I don’t have an free time to learn it in Russia. Lucky me, there was a group for learning this beautiful language at this workshop. We learned some tongue twisters, asked Ivan about something about reading rules and pronunciation and tried to compare that with our native languages. Ivan teaches really good, he encouraged all of us. When the workshop ended, I felt inspired, which, I think, is a good result, when you learn something new and want to continue!

Unfortunately, not many people came to second meeting, but this did not prevent us from holding a workshop productively. My friend and I had the chance to teach the participants something in Russian. In fact, it turned out to be much more difficult than it seemed to us. The Russian language is one of the most difficult foreign languages to learn, because besides the fact that it has a complex grammar, even the alphabet that is used is different. We found similarities and differences in the languages we speak, we learned the origin of some words. The Cyrillic alphabet is perceived as a collection of completely incomprehensible characters, therefore it is very difficult to explain. But support and interest in the process made it all less awkward.

So if you ever will get a chance to visit event like this, I would recommend you to attend it. Who knows, maybe that will be your start in learning something new :)
