Banking troubles

I had to create a bank account here in Finland so I had a chance to compare Russian bank system and Finnish one. First issue I ran into was that I cannot just come to the bank an open a bank account. I should make an appointment. It seemed strange a bit because in my home country to open a bank account you only need to come to the bank, take a queue number and wait for your turn. Second point. I came to the bank in an appointed day and it took not less than 30 minutes to open a bank account. In my home-bank it takes around 15 minutes and you're done. Third thing. At home when I top up my bank account or withdraw some money I always get an SMS-notification about operation. Here in Finland there is no such a service. To see your balance you should refresh your online bank what wasn't suitable for me because I didn't have constant Internet connection. Forth obstacle. Hard to find ATM to top up your bank account! Most of the ATM are for withdrawal, and those, where you can top up your bank

Most of the ATM are for withdrawal, and those, where you can top up your bank account you can find mostly at the bank building. In my home city ATMs with top up function are more common.

Fifth point. I was going to go to Stockholm and wanted to top up my bank account. The ATM declined the operation for unknown reasons. I wanted to ask for help a bank-assistant, so I took the queue number and waited. My turn came and the specialist told me (how it turned out later, she was wrong) to fo to another bank department. I went there, also took the queue number and waited and then... bank closed! I didn't have enough time to get help because banks are close at 16:30! In my home country banks work till 19:00 and even later.

Six point. I knew why I couldn't top up my bank account. It was because it was less than one month before my contract with bank is expired, so after that time I can top up my bank account only with the help of bank assistant, what means I should take a number and wait, wait, wait and here the customer service is a bit slow here, what means I waste my time. Very inconvenient.

Seven point. You cannot send money to any other bank account without leaving a reference what these money are for. In my home bank you can transfer money without any comment.

All in all, bank services work rather good here, but in my country they are more developed and customer-oriented, I think.
