Ruined Assumption Cathedral in Kiev

Ruins of the Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, which was blown up in the November 3, 1941, during the German occupation of the capital of Ukraine – Kiev.

There are several versions of the causes of the explosion of the Assumption Cathedral: the explosion of the Nazis or partisans or NKVD. In the late 1990s, the Assumption Cathedral was rebuilt.
