today marks the Birthday of David Straubinger, the world-renowned master who has given a new breath to the flute and a new sensation to all of us who play the instrument.
The Moscow Flute Center is closely associated with the legendary flute master. David Straubinger has been a mentor of Nikolai Plotnikov, the founder of the Center and the only certified specialist in Russia for repairs of American and Japanese flutes.
On behalf of all Russian flute players we say Happy Birthday and many happy returns of the day, dear David ! We approach each flute brought for repairs with your motto in mind: ‘when compromise is not an option’.
David Straubinger was educated at Julliard and Jordan music schools and for six years has played in Indianapolis symphony orchestra. Since 1969 he has been repairing woodwind instruments for the orchestra’s musicians and their students. This experience resulted in an innovative pad design, the unique Strubinger TM Pad which is used now by all leading flute manufacturers
