Как же тесно переплетается история Санкт-Петербурга с историей Смоленской области... Вот еще один тому пример: Гжатск. Город был построен Петром I как пристань, на которой грузились барки (небольшие судна). Из Гжатска отправляли хлеб и другое продовольствие рабочим, которые строили Петербург, тем самым спасая их от голода.
Сегодня не буду вспоминать первого космонавта, в честь которого переименовали данный город. Это совсем другая тема разговора.
Мне больше интересна одна легенда, связанная с Отечественной войной 1812 года. А именно, с Денисом Васильевичем Давыдовым. Яркая личность в истории и литературе России. Генерал-лейтенант, поэт, прозаик и основатель партизанского движения в войне с Наполеоном. Насколько он многогранен, настолько и нестандартны его действия. Видимо поэтому и так много легенд, окутывают его образ.
1812 год. Казаки перехватили французский обоз с новыми вещами для действующей армии. Почти весь конвой обоза разбежался, остался только молодой лейтенант и десяток человек. Несмотря на превосходящую силу противника, они храбро защищали груз, который им доверили. Парня ранили, но не смертельно. Еще пара солдат попала с ним в плен, остальные погибли. Перед отправкой пленных в Юхнов, Давыдов получил жалобу, что у лейтенанта отобрали все, что было при нем, в том числе и дорогое для него кольцо. Молодой человек просил, чтобы его вернули. Особой ценности оно не имело, но это подарок любимой девушки, проводившей его в поход.
И вот тут, чтобы понять действия Давыдова, нужно знать его личность. Денис Васильевич всегда уважал храбрых людей. Он пообещал, что обязательно вернет лейтенанту памятную вещь.
Когда казаки вернулись с похода, то были допрошены. Как оказалось у них было не только кольцо, но и локон волос с письмами. Все это было собрано и доставлено в Юхнов тому самому храбрецу.
P.S. жалко не известно, как в дальнейшем сложилась жизнь этой пары. Но поучиться есть чему. Относитесь к любому человеку, стоящему перед вами, с уважением.
