Only a little bit is left before the New Year. Many of us perceive this holiday as the beginning of a new life or a new chapter in a book. How to make sure that the new chapter begins not with vanity and regrets, but with joy and a feeling of New Year's magic?
I've decided to make for you a list of 10 things that are very important to do before the New Year comes.
1. Forgive all insults and ask for forgiveness
Resentment is the feeling that destroys our lives. Figuratively speaking, this is a kind of poison that harms us a lot. Forgive everyone who offended you. There is no need to carry this heavy emotional burden with you next year. And be sure to ask for forgiveness from those who have offended yourself. You will see how it becomes easier to live without any guilt.
By the way, here's a good way to get rid of resentment: write a letter to your abuser. Write how you felt from his or her actions or words, suggest why he or she did so. And be sure to write that you forgive him or her. Feel this moment of liberation. Perhaps you have offended him in some way and feel guilty about it. Apologize for this.
2. Visit family and meet friends
Surely you have a friend with whom you agree to meet for a year, but time flies by, and five years have passed since the last meeting (it turns out!). Or your beloved aunt, whom everyone does not find time to visit. Be sure to call and make an appointment.
3. Give all the things that owe other people
This includes debts of money, scarves forgotten by you, borrowed books and etc. Also, the promises you gave someone. The New Year does not like and does not favour debtors. Try to get rid of everything that holds you as much as possible. It's a really cool feeling to know that you don't owe anyone anything. Even a book. Even if you have had it for several years. And even to a person with whom you no longer communicate. A great excuse to meet and make up after a long spat, isn't it?
4. Carry out a general cleaning
Cleaning is a must, especially before the New Year. Make sure to take the time to tidy up your home, your closet, and your laptop. Broken things - we fix it or throw it away mercilessly. Clothes that have not been worn for a year - in the trash or for charity. Don't forget to clean your phone, email, social media.
It happens that it is very difficult to say goodbye to some things. It's one thing when you need to throw out worn-out shoes or unnecessary pieces of paper on your desktop. But it is quite another when you need to deal with things that "may still be useful" and "sorry to throw away." My colleague Olga Berestetskaya shared her experience of getting rid of such trash in the article "How to get rid of trash and let go of the emotions associated with it."
5. Do at least one of those things that have been postponed all year
Surely there is something that you all did not get your hands on. Finish repairs, make a report, or finally pass the session, and so on. If you put off this business for a whole year or did not dare to do it, it is better to complete it before the New Year. To open up new opportunities for you next year, close any old tasks that loom in your mind. At least one, but the oldest and most important.
6. Conduct an analysis of the year
If you think every time why sum up the year, here are some reasons.
First, understand how this year has gone for you. What has happened that is significant and cool this year? What events unsettled you?
Second, to assess your progress. How close are you to your dream? What new reasons for pride have appeared?
Thirdly, to see your "weak points" and understand what is worth working on next year.
Well, how did you make sure that this item is really important? Then we release 10-15 minutes, take questions from the article "29 questions to yourself on the New Year's Eve" and sum up the results of the year.
7. Set goals for next year
Did you know that goals written on paper have a wonderful property to come true? Try it. Write on a piece of paper everything you have wanted to do for so long. "Jump with a parachute"? Be sure to enter! Find a new job? Of course! "Go to Italy"? Yes!
For wishes to come true, the sheet should not be one of those that you wrote, forgot and dug out only a year later. Although even in this case, you will be surprised at how many wishes have come true. We recommend that you post your list in a prominent place and regularly cross out those goals that you have already completed.
8. Buy gifts for loved ones and please yourself
What is the New Year without gifts for friends and family? You know this without any lists. But there are two points here that we would like to clarify.
First, be sure to please yourself. Buy new beautiful clothes or a thing that you have long dreamed of. Go to the spa. Nobody knows better than you what you want. Pamper yourself. You deserve it.
The second point - make a list of gifts for loved ones. You understand that a magnet in the form of a symbol of the next year is generally beyond good and evil. You need to buy gifts now, and not two or three days before the New Year. With kilometre-long queues in stores, there is a high risk of not having time to buy what you need.
9. Create a New Year's atmosphere
It happens that on the eve of the New Year, so many things accumulate that the New Year's mood does not appear at all or appears on December 31 at 8 o'clock in the evening while cutting Olivier salad. Do you remember how you were waiting for this holiday in your childhood? What a miracle was that? And how sometimes this feeling is missing.
No matter how you deny it, decorating a Christmas tree is sacred. And if you also decorate your house, watch New Year's films and cartoons and eat a mountain of tangerines, then the atmosphere of real magic is guaranteed. It's also fun. Do not lose this childish carelessness and ability to enjoy small things in yourself. After all, what is the meaning of life if there is no time to be happy?

10. Plan your New Year's holidays
So that the holidays do not go boring and lying on the couch, we recommend planning what you want to do on these holidays. Include outdoor activities to the maximum: ice skating, buns, a trip to a ski resort. Necessarily with friends, children and even with parents. In winter you can have a lot of fun!
