The B17 Flying Fortress bomber (commander Lieutenant Robert Fuller) during its 128th combat flight was shot down by flak over the German territory (city Stendhal) and 8 April 1945 and the first collapsed and then exploded in the air. Of the 10 crew members were miraculously saved two: a pilot and rear gunner.
