My full name is Euphemia Amberly. Euphemia is my forename and Amberly is my surname.

Now, could you tell me something about yourself? Your parents, perhaps?

Sure. My father's called Phoenix Amberly. As his name suggests, he sets fire to himself every five hundred years. Nobody knows exactly why he keeps doing this, but it always makes my mum fly off the handle. She absolutely hates doing the tidying up once he's risen from the ashes again. It has been like that for as long as I can remember. And he is green-eyed. I mean he's the most jealous of all the living Amberly Owls. And he's very much in love with my mum. They fell in love at thirty-third sight, which was very fast. They even got into the Amberly World Book of Records the Millenium they got married.

She also claims that she can see the future, but the only prediction she's made so far is that she'll commit suicide in 5 million years from now by hanging herself from a tree after eating a poisonous filbert. We'll have to wait for quite a while to see whether this prediction will come true or not. My Dad says that he'll do his best to make sure there are no poisonous filberts around in 5,000 millenia from now, so my mum has yet to make another prediction to prove she can truly see the future. The picture above was taken by my Dad shortly after she'd laid her first three eggs. Rumour has it that I hatched from the darkest one.

No, of course not. The very first Amberly Owls came into existence about a dozen Big Bangs ago. They died out very much like dinosaurs did in your world when something went terribly wrong shortly after the penultimate Big Bang. They ... they just evaporated, leaving a few eggs behind here and there in their home world as well as all their thoughts and hunches. My great-grandparents hatched from those eggs as you might have guessed. As for the Ancient Amberly Owls' thoughts and hunches, they got trapped between gravitational waves and got dragged into a number of different black holes. My mum is the only Amberly Owl that can read those thoughts from a distance. The thoughts help the Amberly Owl World Council make landmark decisions.
