A third of Russians may be fired

The development of technology, automation of processes and the introduction of robots into production until 2020 will leave about 75 million people without work. At the same time, new technologies will not create an imbalance in the labor market and a sharp increase in unemployment. On the contrary, experts predict that new technologies will create about 133 million new jobs. Such a forecast is laid down in the report "the Future of jobs 2018", released by the world economic forum (WEF), the Eurasian Institute of competitiveness and consulting company Strategy Partners. Two main factors that will affect it — low productivity and the emergence of new technologies," — said "Lenta.ru " partner of Strategy Partners and project Manager in Russia Alexey Prazdnichnykh.

At the end of 2017, 29 percent of the total time spent on the creation of goods and services accounted for machines and algorithms. In 2022, this figure will reach 42 percent, and in 2025-already 52 percent, that is, robots will perform more tasks than people.

"Companies in Russia identify three key strategies for solving the problem of changing the structure of jobs: instead of retraining and developing the competencies of the current staff, they plan to hire new employees with new skills, automate workflows and use a pool of temporary specialists," says Holiday.

The main technologies that will determine the economic landscape in the coming years, experts called high-speed mobile Internet, the widespread use of big data, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies. The fear that robots and algorithms will deprive people of work is unreasonable in the medium term: in most cases, they can take on only part of the operations that the employee performs, but not all of his duties.

Less than a quarter of jobs can be automated by 70 percent or more, and it is increasingly clear that it is more profitable not to replace, but to Supplement advanced technology with competent personnel, which contributes to productivity growth.

The report presents the vision of WEF experts and employers around the world. The study is based on a survey of employers in 20 countries (the total volume of their economies — 70 percent of world GDP). The total number of companies surveyed is 313. The number of their employees is about 15 million people.
