Rare watches that contains a drop of the world's oldest rum sold for almost £15,000 at auction.
7 years ago in the Harewood House’s ancient cellar near Leeds were found untouched bottles of rum. For hundreds of years they were kept here far from people. Rum is recognized as the oldest on the planet.
Wealth Solutions acquired this rum and came up with a brilliant move — to sell a drink in tens of times more expensive than the original cost. The solution was the project Rum Watch. It was launched in cooperation with the watch brand Speake-Marin.
The idea was genius — adding a drop of the oldest rum to the watch. Rare drink is almost not consumed and selling watches in this way can bring a thousand-fold profit.
Recently titanium watches Speake-Marin, released in a limited edition of 49 units, were sold for £14,674 at auction.
Instead of a mark at 11 o'clock on them is a small vessel with a drop of the Harewood Rum (1780). This is symbolic — the Royal Navy sailors drank rum at the same time.
Unique Swiss watches estimated for £5,000 - £7,000 but the sale price twice exceeded the maximum estimation.
Comparisons time: Recently the Flotation Tub launched unique bathtub that can “encourage ultimate relaxation”. It offers a water massager that tackles sore muscles and other fancy stuff for just $19,000. Let's be honest — the watches with just a drop of the oldest rum for the same price is a good thing but it doesn't have anything close to the ultimate bath relaxation.
