Creative writing is a thing!

Today I had an interesting experience – creative writing. It’s kind of surprise that I visited it because I hate writing, really. Every time when a writing task is among my assignments, it is the last thing I do. However, the teacher convinced me, that you don’t need to have great writer’s skills to join this workshop, so I thought “Why not?” and enrolled it.

It turned out that the lesson was about writing (obviously), but it should gave taught us how to start when you have no idea what to begin with and how to make yourself focused on what you are writing. Teacher Riikka also told us about “Hot eye, cold eye” technique and I found out that I’ve already done it before – it’s when you write something and then, after some time has passed, look at what you have written again. It helps you to give your text a fresh view and notice some parts that should be changed.

My favourite part began when the teacher turned on the music and asked us to write anything we want, describing what we felt while listening, what story was in front of our eyes. When I heard a melody, it reminded me of some motion picture soundtrack so I imagined an aftermath of battle scene from movies like “Avengers” or “Transformers” and I was really happy when I knew that it was soundtrack to “Inception” movie.

I really liked this workshop. I knew new tactics how to motivate yourself to write, how to search for new ideas and also, I found out that it is a good psychological relaxation – just tell all your thoughts to the paper and maybe you will come up with decision. If you never tried it, I think you should. To say it honestly, I can't say I'm the person who understands yourself well and I'm also not the person who loves to share feelings when they are seemed to be too intimate. Nevertheless, I still feel the need of speaking out and for me to tell everything to the blank sheet of paper is an option. During our lesson we were given 6 beginnings of sentences which we should have continue with our own thoughts, give one idea after another as you unravel a clew. The phrases were: "I miss...", "I don't miss...", "I remember...", "I don't remember..." and etc. You should try to write without thinking, just the first thing that comes in your head. Doing this you can make kind of disclosure about yourself, define your fears, problems, feelings, get rid of bad thoughts and focus on what is really important.

I think I will try this method later when I will feel myself uncertain about something in my life because when you define what is the thing that disturbs you and bother you, it's much easier to overcome it.
