Here are and some tips and ideas of what to shoot if you just wanna HAVE FUN with your drone!
Get dirty
Remember, we are not shooting documentary, so don't be afraid to look funny in front of other people. Feel free to lie down and get dirty for the picture.
Involve other people
Don't let your company be bored while you drone! Involve your friends... as many as you can!
It could be a simple picture featuring snow angels:
But if you got 2 hours to spare, even cars would be on your side:
BE involved in the picture
Sometimes it's not enough just to lie down and be gorgeous! You have to be the part of the picture and make it alive with your presence. Really love this entry for SkyPixel contest.
Find your thing!
It's always great to check out Skypixel in need of inspiration, but it's more important to find your OWN thing that drives you! Some people love shooting airplanes, others are fond of church domes or night city.
My type of thing is shooting girls in the flower fields. Check out how the shots changed from 2015 to 2018. I know exactly, what changed - now portrait orientation is in favour of square pics for Instagram. Still, which one do you like better?
Some ideas on what to shoot
There are 3 categories for fun aerial shots that I could think of:
Category: People
How to shoot: top down photos of people doing sports, imitating some actions (running, jumping, falling, flying), minimalistic photos of people in the water, swimming pools, contrast pictures with colourful accessories on monochrome surface (for example, smoke bombs, bright clothes, umbrellas, hats etc), making letters or even words with the shapes of the human bodies.
Category: Lines and shapes
How to shoot: top down photos of natural or man-made unusual shapes. Could be found via Google Maps (satellite mode) or Google Earth.
Category: Objects
How to shoot: close-ups of statues (sometimes one can find pretty interesting details or funny faces) and unusual objects.
