Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I am delighted to be traveling with you through some of the most beautiful and unique locations in the Altai Mountains.
Teletskoye Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in Russia after Lake Baikal. It is located in the Altai Mountains, at an altitude of over 400 meters above sea level. The lake is approximately 90 kilometers long and up to 5 kilometers wide. The deepest point is over 300 meters deep.
The lake receives water from over 70 rivers, including the Chulyshman River, which is the largest. Only one river flows out of the lake, the Biya River, carrying the waters of Teletskoye to the Ob River system.
Teletskoye Lake got its name from a small Turkic tribe, the Teles, who lived on its shores. This tribe no longer exists, but its name lives on!
Today, Lake Teletskoye is a part of the Altai Nature Reserve and attracts tourists from all over the world.
It is surrounded by mountains covered in dense forests, and there are only three villages on the shore - Yaylu, Iogach and Artybash.
Two of these villages are inhabited by locals and reserve staff, while Artybash serves as the tourist hub of the area. It's in Artybash where our campsite, Altyn-Kel, can be found.
And we finished our second day of sightseeing with a climb up Mount Kokuya.
The mountain's name is from the Altai language, meaning a headdress.
The height of the mountain is almost one and a half kilometers, and it certainly dominates its surroundings in the north of Lake Teletskoye. You could say that the mountain is the king of Lake Teletskoye.

I can confidently say that the most memorable experience from the following day was the exhilarating raft ride along the stunning Katun River.
The views from "Devil's Finger," a renowned rock formation among tourists, also left a lasting impression on us.
There was also a hike along the Katun to the beautiful Kamyshlinskiy waterfall.
Thank you for your support, friends! See you soon on the World Wide Web.
