The Kawasaki company in 1987 at the Tokyo Motor Show presented the model of the sports tourist Kawasaki ZX-10 (Tomcat), the production and sales of which started
in 1988. The model replaced the outdated Kawasaki GPZ1000RX.At the time of its release, the bike became a bestseller of sales ,and all because the ZX-10 set
a speed record (about 270 km / h) and a record time of passing a quarter mile (0-400 m in 10.5 seconds),while from 0 to 100 km/h the bike accelerated in 3.5 s. As a result, the ZX-10
became the fastest production motorcycle in the world for 3 years.
The Kawasaki ZX-10 (Tomcat) was equipped with a 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, 997 cc engine with two camshafts in the cylinder head and liquid cooling.
The diameter of the cylinder was 74 mm, and the stroke of the piston was 58 mm. The maximum power of the engine, working with a compression ratio of 11: 1, was 137
horsepower, which was removed at 10,000 rpm. The maximum torque was reached at 9000 rpm and was equal to 103 Nm.Power was provided
by four 36-millimeter Keihin CV carburetors of constant dilution.
Unlike its predecessor, the Kawasaki ZX-10 (Tomcat) boasted a new ,replaced steel ,aluminum frame,which was called the E-box Frame.
Externally, the motorcycle received a new plastic design with improved aerodynamic characteristics.The suspension was a front hydraulic fork ,
which replaced the pneumatic one with an anti-bite, and the diameter of the feathers was increased from 40 to 41 mm.A pendulum suspension with a pneumatic
adjustable monoamortizer was installed at the rear.
