The oldest structural findings point to the 11th century as the period in which Falkenberg Castle was built.
The beginnings of the use and building history of the Falkenberg castle hill probably go back to the 10th century, but lie in the near and the dark.The place was predestined for a fortification: a towering rock tower at a river crossing, over which an old trade route led. An indication of Falkenberg's existence as early as the 10th century is the patron saint of the parish church in Pankratius.
