Krasnodar, 18 February – Yug Times. Sochi is creating a unified system of shelters to protect residents and visitors in the event of emergencies. An inventory is under way of basements and other underground premises, with official documentation prepared and responsibility as signed for each site. The authorities say the aim is to ensure that every district has properly equipped shelters. More than 1,200 premises across the city are considered potentially suitable, including underground car parks, pedestrian underpasses, ground-floor spaces and basements in apartment blocks. Municipal officials, district administrations and management companies are inspecting their technical and sanitary condition. Particular attention is paid to clearing clutter, with regular clean-ups organised jointly with neighbourhood associations and residents.
