The Los Angeles Times, or LA Times for short, is a daily newspaper that began publication in Los Angeles in 1881. Based in the Los Angeles suburb of El Segundo since 2018, it is the sixth-largest newspaper in the United States. The publication has received more than 40 awards. It is owned by Patrick Sun-Shiong and published by Times Mirror. Newspaper coverage has recently changed from headlines in the US and other countries to a focus on the history of California and especially Southern California. The newspaper moved from its historic downtown headquarters to a building in El Segundo, near Los Angeles International Airport, in July 2018.
