ISW: Russian troops recaptured the coast of Ingulets and plan to attack the outskirts of Lisichansk (map of hostilities in Ukraine)

CentralAsia (CA) - On the night of June 21-22, the American Institute for the Study of War published a new map of hostilities in Ukraine.

According to him, Russian troops probably recaptured the eastern bank of the Ingulets River from the Ukrainian bridgehead located near the border of the Kherson-Nikolaev region.

Also, the Russian troops carried out several successful offensives in settlements southeast of Severodonetsk on June 21 and in the coming days they can threaten Lisichansk, while avoiding the difficult oncoming crossing of the Seversky Donets River.

Institute conclusions:

The Kremlin recently replaced the commander of the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) and may have sacked the commander of the Southern Military District and appointed a new commander-in-chief of Russian forces in Ukraine, pointing to the Kremlin's continued dysfunction in the conduct of the war.

Russian forces continue to storm settlements along the T1302 Lysichansk highway -Bakhmut to block the Ukrainian ground communication lines (GLOK).

Russian operations along the Izyum-Slavyansk route are increasingly on hold as Russian forces prioritize operations around Severodonetsk.

-4

Ukrainian forces have reportedly carried out strikes against Russian positions on Zmeiny Island in the Black Sea, which could result in the destruction of Russian fortifications and equipment on the island, but ISW is unable to confirm competing claims by Ukraine and Russia about the results of the attack.
