Volunteering with marine life is a great way to combine your passion for diving and oceans with marine work. Whether it's sea turtles, sharks, whales or dolphins, the great wide ocean and its inhabitants are an absolutely fascinating ecosystem that needs to be protected from the man-made threats it is facing, like water pollution and overfishing.
Step in today and volunteer for marine conservation around the world. You will engage in research, beach or ocean clean-ups, diving and learn a lot about marine biology and all the fish, corals and other marine wildlife.

Volunteers play a crucial role in conservation efforts!
This program is located in the central Pacific coast, south of Quepos and north of Dominical. Compared to other turtle programs you will have some infrastructure here – a little supermarket, a little restaurant and there is a school that they plan to cooperate with. The coastline in this area is stunning and also very suitable for surfing. There is a surfschool right beneath the project.
And - they also plan to protect the most emblematic animal from Costa Rica: sloths!
There'se some tasks for every day routine for volunteers.
Typical tasks can include:
- Patrol walks on the beach, mainly at night
- Find turtles and their nests
- Protect the eggs in safe breeding grounds (viveros)
- Freeing new born turtle babies
- Nest exhumations
- Data collection in contact with our biologist who will train you in field work with sloths
Housing will be provided for volunteers. Despite all the responsibilities, volunteers will have free time, which they can spend usefully on the beach or in the city.
In order to take part in the project, the participant must be at least 17 years old. Knowledge of basic English is also required.
