Eugenio Monti is an Italian bobsledder, born on 23 January 1928.

 

He was a young alpine skier and won national championship titles. In 1954 he won his first championship in italy for the first time, and in 1957 he won the world championship.

Monti is known for always encouraging fair play, his act in 1964 was known to the whole world.

 The main competitors had a broken bob, Monty considered them worthy rivals, so he gave the necessary part from his bob, in the end the rivals won.

 Also in his history there was a case when he himself repaired the shell of the Canadians, who were his rivals. 

After the Olympic Games, he retired from the sport due to injury, he tore ligaments in both knees. 

Monti died on December 1 in 2003 due to the fact that he shot himself, he could not live without sports and an active life
