The Leader: autocracy vs interdependence

Sabbatical offers much space for thinking🧐, exploring insights upon our Self, our Deeds, our reflections 🤳🏻 in others over a given period, its true.

Without a doubt its one of the cures and clues 🔑 for better versions of Selves, your true #rolemodel that only works when it’s sincere and worked out. -

Looking back, comparing, keeping research for breakthrough are among the best exercises for #growth 🌱 while it inevitably puts extra questions for inner discussion. Clarity comes easier by getting rid of overwhelming information flow: you escape from any form of individual corporate “value box”, turn off alien agenda and try to find you own inner balance 🧘‍♀️ It might seem to be laid with rose-leafs, but definitely not that simple.

The other day I was scrolling the news line and spotted (yes, trivial) TED speech, which I’d like to park here 🔗https://www.ted.com/talks/lorna_davis_a_guide_to_collaborative_leadership/transcript for further discussion after a kind of foreword.

Over the past years I’ve been thinking on the #leadership models, to be true - about the Russian simulacrum 🎃of it having been observed by myself and witnessed by closest friends: some bosses tried to keep in awe😰, some managed by provoking conflicts inside the team🤜🏼🤛🏼, some - by “hero” speeches and watchwords 👏🏼that failed to work having been felt absolutely artificial; some managed by giving the same tasks for seniors and their juniors at the same time to see what’d happen, some managed purely by dress branding 🕺🏼and pretentious manner👑, not to say about frankly slandering behind🙈🙉🙊. None told or acted about collaboration, transparency and the power of Us as a Team🤝, almost none either was able to set goals 🎯and engage by giving clear roles&responsibilities, only a few could inspire by trust or generous influence.

Countless library of patterns, in fact. To be honest, I attempted myself to try on almost all of them like one-day dress👗 having fun and experimenting. Not suits, throw away. 🗑

Social agenda, coaches, event-speakers and bestseller books suffuse us with almost fairytale examples of legendary self-mades, who dared to be unlike and succeeded.

What do you think about the video story and if you’re interested in discussion upon the following, feel free to comment, please:

1. What are your best/worst patterns, that however brought change in your managerial practice; do they work or not with Russian mindset?

2. What about true collaboration and interdependence in doing business together? Or, expectedly, “job security fear” blocks behavioral diversity of managers. Or simply ordinary employees react only upon stick&carrot approach. But even this approach arrived in our culture to a joke: “used all sticks? - F**k with carrot!”
