He didn't say anything, only sat in his chair, arms folded across his chest.
"You're going to stay with me tonight," she said, "and all you need to do is look at my mother, and you'll see that she's not just your mother, that she's mine."
"She's not mine," he said quietly.

He closed his eyes and closed his mouth. He thought she looked pretty. And not that she would ever admit it, but the look in his eyes... she thought it was just because he was a wolf.
