1. The Five - four teenagers went for a walk in the park, and a five-year-old Jesse, one of their friends' brothers, followed them. When the baby got bored, he was sent home. The baby went alone through the park with tears...and no one else saw him. Jesse was gone. Years went by. Teenagers grew up. One of them became a policeman, the other headed a rehabilitation center for troubled teenagers, the third became a lawyer, and the fourth became a doctor, got married and left the country.
Twenty years later, a band-aid with blood is found at one of the crime scenes. DNA showed that the blood belonged to...Jesse. How did the DNA of the missing child end up at the crime scene after so many years? Is he a murderer, an accomplice or an unwilling witness?
Having received such unexpected news, the Quartet is gathering together again. A deep sense of guilt and regret have eaten them all these years, but if Jesse turns out to be alive, it means they are not to blame.
This strange find raises a million questions for the investigation and gives a new ray of hope to parents...hope that their missing son is still alive.
Here you have: the pain of the parents because of the loss of the child, which has not been cured even for twenty years; and the confusing police investigations; and the maniacs; and the personal dramas in the life of the main characters; and the past memories of the day Jesse disappeared; and the difficult relationship between fathers and children; and the passions of pride among troubled teenagers ...
And, strange as it may seem, it's all right, everything is logical, everything is smooth as it should be. For the sake of justice, I admit, the plot is a bit far-fetched in some places, sometimes "stuck". BUT we write it down to the peculiarities of the European series). The main thing - the general impression of these "features" do not spoil.

2 The Night Of is a crime drama from the IEE. Student Nasir Khan, by a strange coincidence, one night met a charming girl Andrea. Nasir found himself at Andrea's house. The night turned out to be "hot". After waking up in the morning in the kitchen, Naz went home, but, with decency, decided to say goodbye to the mistress. I went into the bedroom and...saw her in a pool of blood. Andrea was dead. In a panic, Naz leaves the scene of the crime without calling the police. And then the events begin to develop, as in a very bad movie. Patrolmen arrested Naz after five minutes on the street (he was driving a car stoned); they also received a radio call and drove to the same address with Naz in the back seat (do not let him go on driving); went up to the apartment, and there is dead Andrea; a neighbor from the house across the street (he called the police) immediately identified Naz; in the pocket of Khan's jacket found a knife and. Nasir was arrested for the murder of a young diva before he could look back. But Nasir, though he does not remember the events of the night well, is sure of one thing - he did not kill the girl.
I will spread my delight on the points. This way the discussion is easier.
First, the story itself. This kind of torn, uneven, "woven from different flap" narration - as if the pages from the book were ripped out - adds even more drama and understatement to the, and without that, unhappy picture.
Secondly, the actors are just a bomb! Such powerful characters in the series, my mother dear! Reese Ahmed (Venom, Four Lions, Jason Born) in the role of Khan is unrealistically cool, John Turturro (Big Lebowski, Transformers) is very authentically merged into the image of an unusual strange lawyer; Detective Dennis Box, performed by Bill Camp (12 years of slavery, Birdman), you begin to hate from the first minutes of his appearance in the frame, and the Oscar-winning beauty Jenny Berlin (heartbreaker, Colombo) turned out to be such a bitchy district attorney-carrier - a complete flight!
Third, the atmosphere of the show. Very much likes that shooting the series about a Muslim boy, the theme of immigrants and emigration did not exacerbate and deliberately "add oil to the fire" - the whole picture is made in very restrained and well-behaved tones. Yes, Khan's mother was fired from her job, but not because she was Muslim, but because all the media reported that her son had brutally killed a girl. And we would have been fired, why such advertising to the firm? And, of course, the prevalence of gloomy tones in the scenery as part of the story we watch.
Fourth, the end of the series. In the end, the writers deliberately forgot to put an end to it. And you're slightly perplexed looking for the ninth series, and then with a strange sense of disappointment, you realize that the plots are only eight. And so sad was it!
After watching the series, I tried for a long time to understand, so what is the first thing about this series? About the rotten judicial system; about the spitting attitude to the life of another person, if at stake is your career in the clouds, that there are still good, selfless people on Earth, how to survive behind bars and stay human, about parental love and faith in their own child ... but about everything at once and a little bit.
