We really nailed it when we talk about perch, fishing and Garda.
In fact, the history of Pescaok was born like this: on Lake Garda fishing for perch, at first with the spinning rod, and then in all possible ways…
Pesco sul Garda for many years and the biggest perch I took them from the boat, as told in the article published many years ago in a newspaper, entitled "The Freshwater fisherman".
How is perch and how to fish
The Perch is a very cunning and wary fish, difficult to undermine; the small specimens usually stand in packs while the large ones are solitary. Fast and quite voracious, it lives in the Stony seabeds, but the places it prefers are the submerged trees, the pylons of the wooden bridges, or, in any case, places where it can attack and be sheltered from the sight, defending itself in turn from the Predators.
The fishing of the perch is very interesting because it can be done in different ways, with the bolognese, spinning, with moschera... spinning offers a considerable resistance, to undermine with teaspoons of 2 or 1, white or gold dots, or red stripes, or small minnow with scoop long that go on the bottom (jerk), just where the perch is parked.
What it takes to fish for perch
The equipment that can serve is as follows: Rod, wire and reel can be the same ideal for trout. In one of the last releases, I brought with me a 2,70 medium rigid spinning rod and the Daiwa Fuego 4000.
For the float I recommend a fairly robust wire 0.20 or a braid; I used the Sufix X8 Braid (if you use the braid with the float, I recommend a final in fluor carbon); hooks from 8 to 12 and as bait: the earthworm (earthworm), gatoss and bigat, or shrimp.
Also, the perch can be fished with the amettiere for whitefish/cheppie/sardines or designed specifically for him; the favorite colors in the amettiere are black, green, red, white, and gold.
My last perch fishing
I've done two perch fishing these days, the first spinning and the second with bolognese and amettiera. In both cases I used a fantastic Reel, The New Daiwa Fuego LT 4000D, with recovery ratio 5,2: 1 (which for me is also great for trout) and a sufficient capacity for our fishing on the lake and beyond; also I wanted to test the braided Sufix X8 Braid of 0,12.
What to say I was really amazed at this reel, light, precise and powerful; it is difficult to find a versatile reel that fits well under a spinning rod and on a bolognese, yet with an expense of about 100 Euros I took a reel and wire that I will carry with me for a long time. The Daiwa build quality I did not know so well, I had remained to old models that had not bewitched me; I thought that always using the same brand was the best thing, instead this time I wanted to change and I was really happy.
I wanted to fish with a braided line because of the lake serving the throws are very long, and this line offers an excellent performance: quiet and soft, and I was immediately at ease, and in both cases, both spinning with the bolognese, has behaved very well; even to the spinning I managed to fool a nice chub from a couple of kg, which you can see in the photo. We know that chubsuits see us very well, so a braid that is absolutely invisible in the water, like the one I used, is useful.
Of course, often you find the perch near the shore, but depending on the situations, for example with the bolognese and the amettiera, I had fun with very long launches to undermine even some Sardinian Lake and luck wanted me to take some…
Now back to the perch: unfortunately the big catch did not arrive, but from the shore I imagined it; some nice perch has arrived the same, nothing that could worry my equipment (to this the chub thought and I could also test the millimeter clutch of the Daiwa that is impressive), but what matters is to spend a nice day of fishing and maybe in peace learning something new.
