Electric cars are the transport of the future. And while we were waiting, it came and went. Every year electric cars are used more and more in the world and their number on the roads is growing.
On practicality:
As a city car, an electric car is now more than practical. At the moment it is possible to operate it in the city, even without having its own place for charging. However, for those who need to travel long distances and do it quickly enough, not with sightseeing, but just to get from point A to point B, he is not suitable.
About exploitation and money:
Electric cars break down quite seldom, but there are small nuances such as a malfunction of the door handle. Maintenance of the suspension and chassis is the same as in conventional cars. In principle, it can be repaired at any service. If something on an electric part, it is a better special service, of course. There are also workshops that repair hybrids and all together. In terms of consumables, I wouldn't say that there are special problems. This is not a gasoline car: there is no need to change oil or other things. Yes, an electric car is more expensive, but you paid once and then sleep peacefully. Nissan Leaf, for example, I didn't have to use it for a long time, but speaking of Tesla, the cost of maintenance tends to be zero. Up to 80,000 kilometers, only the cabin filter and wiper blades change - and that's optional. Benefits: Electric cars are currently exempt from road tax. Maybe someday they will make free parking.
About charging and mileage:
Most people think there's nowhere to charge an electric car. In addition, high-speed stations with a capacity of 50 kWh are now being installed in the world. They can charge Tesla up to 80% in an hour and a half, and the same Leaf in half an hour. By the end of the year, they promise us about 11 ultra-fast charges, which will charge Tesla for about half an hour. I think that by 2022 all large countries will be covered by a network of such stations because now all this is developing very quickly. Also, it is necessary to notice that all chargers for electric cars for today are free.
To put a charging station in your yard, you need to get the consent of the association of owners. If it gives good, everything else is purely technical: to make a project and coordinate the energy supervision. Everything together with the equipment will cost 2500 - 3000 dollars on a turnkey basis.
About the purchase of:
Now there are several ways to buy an electric car. You can bring it from abroad yourself, you can contact the official dealers who sell BMW i3 and Jaguar I-Pace, or you can contact us if you want to buy a Tesla. From the economic point of view, it makes sense to bring only cars that have been in a car accident from America. And it's like a lottery: sometimes cars come without a battery, without keys, and the buyer is not protected from it. The probability that something will be wrong is about 30%. But it is quite possible that you will get into a happy interest. At dealers, the person is insured. Tesla-cars, for example, works only with new cars from a warehouse in Europe. They come with a guarantee and everything necessary. The customer receives a full-service package and the car, which will not be any problems in the future. American cars are not charged directly from our three-phase sockets.
How much will the difference in the price of an electric car pay off in comparison with a gasoline car (and it is 20-50%)? It depends on how you drive. Of course, for those who drive a little, it will never pay off. It turns out to be more of an image story. And if you send the same Leaf in a taxi, it will pay off in a year and a half.
Usually, people who live in their own house think about buying a car because it's very convenient: when you come for the night, you load a car. Also, those who want to try something new, who have already moved to everything they can, come to think of an electric car. And the third category is people who think about ecology.
About the prospects:
Of course, sales of electric cars all over the world are also largely based on subsidies from the state. Since we do not have this subsidizing, the development of the sphere will depend on whether there will be any special import duties and whether it will be possible to establish own production. Both are ways to reduce prices. By the way, the production of electric cars is not more complicated than the production of gasoline cars. On the contrary, it is much simpler. There are many fewer complex components there: there is no gearbox, combustion engine, clutch and so on.
I think that the launch of a nuclear power plant in our country will lead to the more rapid development of the electric mobile industry. For example, the lack of night-time demand lowers the price of electricity, and it is somehow impossible to store it, so one of the options for distributing surplus energy will be the development of electric cars.
