Did you know that marten is one of the oldest predators on the planet?
A group of cunyah appeared on the planet before all living hunters. They are small, clever with an incredibly flexible calf and have settled almost all over the world, from the tropics to the Arctic, and can be found in the UK and even in Sicily.
Biologists have eight species, including sable, weasel and ferret. But today we will talk about martens. Their size is very modest, the adult male reaches up to 60 centimeters in length. They are skilled hunters and their diet includes squirrels, hares, hedgehogs, mice, snails, berries, fruits and nuts.
The marten can easily climb into the henhouse and crush all the birds. Even if the animal is well-fed, it simply cannot resist this temptation. They also like cars very much, they gladly cut through hoses and cables and leave marks on the body. Apparently, the smell of gasoline makes animals euphoric.
They live mainly in the nests and hollows of trees, having previously destroyed their previous owners, but can love and abandoned human houses and sheds. With the advent of winter, the marten is moved to the spacious hollows, but its relative stone marten, on the contrary, prefers burrows.
They lead only a nightlife, their sharp vision and excellent hearing help to navigate even in pitch black. Kittens communicate with each other by roaring and purring, making sounds similar to the chirping of birds.
A few centuries ago, marten skins were the equivalent of money and were of equal value to silver and foreign coins. It was called kuna. Because of the beautiful wool on this animal has been hunting for centuries, from the complete extermination of martens saves only what they live on a vast territory and all the animals people can not catch.
But mankind has approached this issue more creatively and simply cut down forests, thereby depriving animals of their natural habitat.
