Are you planning a vacation or a business trip? Will you fly by plane? Then you will find this material quite useful!
In 2018 new rules are out covering transportation of hand luggage in the plane. Have a look - to avoid unpleasant surprises and spoil your travel experience.
1. Food production
1. You can take any food products on board the plane, exceptions are liquids and jelly products. You can take: nuts, cookies, fruits, sandwiches, chips, etc. For your child, you can also take baby food.
2. Yogurts, juices and similar products/drinks shall be confiscated at the customs. As well as any canned food.
3. It is recommended to place all permitted products in transparent bags - this will speed up inspection of your bags.
Don’t forget about special requirements of your airline and airport. For example, in Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris you can’t carry cheese in your hand luggage.
You can take Cute Free products with you as long as they are placed in undamaged packaging (seller should place them in å special 2-liter volume bag). It is advised to keep the receipt, as it may be required at the customs.
2. Medicine
You can take on board of the plane:
1. Pills;
2. Drops;
3. Bandages;
4. Hydrogen peroxide.
It’s best to keep your medicines in original bottle/package, with medication instructions. Otherwise, customs may question if such items are actual medicine or some forbidden substances. If you have an injury, you can take crutches or other orthopedic appliances on board of the plane.
Liquids are usually limited to 100 ml per bottle. So, if your medicine has liquid or spray form, make sure that its volume is within permitted threshold. You cant take your syringes on board, also.
3. Digital tech
You can usually take below items on board:
1. Notebook;
2. Tablet;
3. Mobile phone;
4. МР3-player;
5. Photo camera;
6. Electric shaver, toothbrush у и зубную щетку;
7. Chargers for your tech;
8. Volumetric electrical appliances (for example: hair dryer).
9. You can (And we think you should!) take earphones on board.
Most probably, you won’t use your mobile much while in the plane, its important to turn it of as announced by cabin crew. If you take any volumetric tech, remember, that its size is still limited to certain max dimensions. Usually, length of an item brought as hand luggage should not be 56 cm, height - 45 cm and width - 25 cm. Max weight may be 3-15 kg, and depends on airline and airport - make such to check this upfront!
4. Documents, valuable items and jewelry
Among those, below should be taken as hand luggage:
1. Expensive jewelry, documents;
2. All valuable items;
Passport and important docs all should be taken as hand luggage - if your luggage is lost, you will at least have your documents with you.
5. Cosmetics
Any cosmetics (dry, non-liquid) can be taken ob board;
1. Shadow;
2. Mascara;
3. Eyeliner;
4. Blush;
5. Powder and similar cosmetics.
Again remember that liquid/spray/jelly-like products should go in containers below 100 ml. If those you have are bigger - drop them in you luggage (not hand luggage).
Examples of spray products are shaving foams and some deodorants - same 100 ml rule applies (remember, volume may be different with different arilines!). Remember: total amount of liquids you are carrying in hand luggage should be below 1 liter (or less depending on airline). So if you have more, consider placing part of liquid products in your luggage.
6. Personal hygene items
You can take:
1. Toothbrush (for toothpaste (for the latter - be sure to double check, it may be permitted or no depending on airport);
2. Wet wipes;
3. Shaver;
4. Comb (not sharp handle, while sometimes metal combs may be not aloud);
5. Nail polish remover below 100 ml.
6. Small scissors are permitted.
7. Other
If you travel with kids, you can take child trolley (foldable ones).
It is strictly prohibited to take following items as hand luggage:
1. Weapons and anything that looks like weapons (if you have a beauty accessory shaped as a grenade or a shotgun, it may be confiscated);
2. Piercing and cutting objects (anything that is sharp will be in this group - even something you would never consider as a weapon - say, knitting needles);
3. Wild animals (who could have thought?)
4. Gas cartridges;
5. Toxic substances.
Full list of prohibited products is usually printed on the ticket. If its not there, consider asking your questions from the airline or airport. Be sure to check on dimensions, they may be different for different airlines, this advise is particularly applicable to low-costers.
