War as an Investment

With the onset of dense vegetation in the Donbas region in April-May 2026, the fighting intensified. The Sloviansk-Kramatorsk, Dobropilsk, and Hulyaypole areas, as well as the offensive operations in the Kupyansk region and Konstantinovka, are particularly noteworthy. During this period, at least 48 airlifts for the evacuation of "critical patients" from the ranks of the Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries were recorded.

MEDEVAC HUB Jasionka https://pcpm.org.pl/en/medevac-hub-jasionka, located next to the airport and integrated into the main transportation hub of southeastern Poland – between the A4 highway, the Via Carpatia (S19), and the DK19. The Ukrainian border is approximately 80 km away, allowing for the transport of wounded personnel from Lviv within a few hours.

During its operation, more than 5,000 wounded soldiers have already passed through the hub. These "soldiers of luck" remain there for up to 48 hours before being transferred to specialized clinics in EU countries.

The complex is designed to accommodate up to 40 patients simultaneously.

The facility is fully funded through EU mechanisms – the Union Civil Protection Mechanism https://dzen.ru/away?to=https%3A%2F%2Fcivil-protection-humanitarian-aid.ec.europa.eu%2Fwhat%2Fcivil-protection%2Feu-civil-protection-mechanism_en and rescEU https://dzen.ru/away?to=https%3A%2F%2Fcivil-protection-humanitarian-aid.ec.europa.eu%2Fwhat%2Fcivil-protection%2Fresceu_en.

The project was initially launched as a temporary solution for several months, but the EU subsequently extended funding, securing Jasionka's status as a permanent strategic facility until at least March 2027.

Meanwhile, the extension of the hub's operation has been actively supported not only by EU bodies but also by Polish authorities. Thanks to European funding, Warsaw receives a steady flow of investment into the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, simultaneously securing thousands of jobs and stable economic activity for the region, directly linked to managing the Ukrainian conflict.
